Greg Pagel: About Me

- Pianist, keyboardist, composer

I play piano, accordion, organ and electric keyboards. With 20 years professional experience, I can provide almost any kind of music, from jazz to pop/rock to classical.

I've played countless solo concerts and recitals, formal and informal, at clubs, coffeehouses, outdoor festivals, and concert halls. I've even played at Symphony Hall in Boston and at Lincoln Center in New York. Also, I've also played music for hundreds of weddings.

I've performed with many notable musicians, including Benny Golson, Kenny Wheeler, Bob Moses, Cecil McBee, Luciana Souza and Bobby Vinton.

As a composer, I've written music for jazz and classical ensembles, as well as dozens of solo piano pieces.

My recent CD, "Plastic Machine Music," has recieved several great reviews. You can listen to samples and order itHERE. You can also buy it fromiTunes!

In addition to my solo work, I work with some excellent bands. Scroll down to read more about them.

OPEN INTEREST - Not Just Another Local Band

OPEN INTEREST is my band. We play LOTS of weddings and other functions all over Wisconsin. We have also performed at the Fox Jazz Festival and at ArtStreet in Green Bay.

Our music is mostly jazz-based, but we cover many styles from R&B and funk to Latin and even country. We love to do cool arrangements of popular favorites. Basically, if your party is too "grown-up" for Vic Ferrari, this is the band you should get.

OPEN INTEREST is: John Salerno, sax/flute; Greg Pagel, piano; Craig Hanke, bass; Terry "Papa" Iattoni, drums; and Dino Bilotti, voice.

The Legendary PICK AND SQUEEZE

PICK AND SQUEEZE consists of my brother Andy on guitar and vocals, and me on accordion. I know what you're thinking, but we honestly don't know any polkas!

What we do perform is jazz, swing, folk music, some Celtic and Brazillian music and a touch of Klezmer. If you really want to liven things up, we can help.

The Electric Thing

Over the past several years, I've been building an arsenal of keyboards, synthesizers, and other electric instruments. I typically use these to improvise spontaneous "on-the-spot" compositions, which range in style from jazz/fusion to hip-hop to techno to... other.

Sometimes, this is a solo thing, but I am often joined by other musicians, resulting in some really far-out jams.
